The former communist government of Albania isolated the country politically, economically and culturally from not only the capitalist west but also from all other communist powers in the east. It wasn’t until 1992 with the fall of almost all other communist regimes in Europe that Albania took steps towards democracy and development.

Still very much emerging economy and country, the capital, Triana is only small but is the most happening city in the country.

Manners and Customs

  • Although exceedingly poor the Albanians are generally very polite and helpful.
  • Generally most Albanians love anything Italian or American to a lesser extent.
