Milwaukee is the largest city in the US state of Wisconsin and is a stop on the travel day between Chicago and Madison on Grand Northern Tours of the US.
Milwaukee is still known as the brewing capital of the United States. Check out the free, guided tour of the Miller Brewery which includes a look into the modern machinery that makes mass distribution beer possible as well as a glimpse of brewings storied past in Milwaukee. Also, don’t forget to sample the finished product at the Miller Brew Hall. It’s free! Also, Milwaukee is the world headquarters for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

I have lived in Milwaukee for the past few years while attending college. I love it because it still has a city feel but isn’t as big and confusing as, say, Chicago or New York. Summer is the best time to visit, winter gets a little long. Summerfest is a definite must if visiting around the end of June. There are also many other brewery tours besides Miller. My favorite is the Lakefront Brewery Tour. It’s a little brewery located on the Milwaukee River. Only $6 for 4 cups of beer and a souvenir glass! Milwaukee Art Museum is stunning. Make sure you go on a nice day so the wings are up (Calatrava designed is to look like a bird complete with wings)!

Milwaukee isn’t as exciting as say Chicago nor as beautiful as Minneapolis in terms of the Midwestern states, but there is a certain atmosphere that attracts many visitors.
Summerfest, also known as the “World’s Largest Music Festival” has a nightly lineup of some of America’s best artists. Also not to be missed is the Milwaukee Art Museum that has a design similar to the Sydney Opera house.
I couldn’t believe I randomly came across this article! This city is practically in my own backyard. Madison is a wonderful mid-sized city with possibly the most beautiful capitol building in the United States.
